About IPMAT

IPMAT is IIM Indore's entrance exam for its 5-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) - a direct-from-Class-12 route into a management degree, without needing a separate undergraduate degree first. A few other IIMs (Rohtak, Jammu, Bodh Gaya, Ranchi) run their own separately-branded IPM entrance tests with different patterns and eligibility; this covers IIM Indore's specifically, the original and best-known version.

The Short Answer quantitative section has no negative marking even though the rest of the paper does - a distinct scoring quirk worth knowing going in.

Selection process

IPMAT score determines who advances to Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds - the final merit list combines all three stages, not IPMAT alone.
