Eligibility

EducationYou must be currently studying in Class 10, at a school in the same district as the JNV you're applying to, and must never have studied in a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya before.
AgeYou must be born between 1 June 2010 and 31 July 2012. Exact 2027-28 cutoff dates not yet released - estimated from the 2026-27 cycle's pattern.

About JNVST (Class 11)

JNVST Class 11 LEST fills vacant Class 11 seats at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas - free, fully residential government schools - for students currently in Class 10 who have never studied in a JNV before. Run by the same body (NVS) as the Class 9 lateral-entry stream, historically on the same exam day, but a separate track with its own eligibility: currently studying in Class 10, not Class 8, and only open to students from the same district as the JNV they're applying to.

Duration

2.5 hours

No application fee. Only open to students who have never studied in a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya before, and only for vacant Class 11 seats at the JNV in the candidate's own district - considerably more restrictive than Class 9 lateral entry.

Selection process

A district-wise merit list is prepared from the test score - only students residing in and having studied in the same district as the JNV they're applying to are eligible for that school's vacant seats.
