Prelims is a qualifying-only screen; final merit combines Mains + Interview marks, ranked against category-wise vacancies across West Bengal's state administrative, police, and allied services.

Age requirement varies by post group: 20-36 (Group B, WB Police Service), 21-36 (Group A/C), 21-39 (Group D) - reserved categories get standard WBPSC relaxations. You need a Bachelor's degree (any discipline) from a recognized university, plus the ability to read, write, and speak Bengali (waived if your mother tongue is Nepali) - open to any Indian citizen.
