About GPSC Class 1 & 2

GPSC Class 1 & 2 is Gujarat's state civil services exam - the state-level equivalent of UPSC CSE - for Gujarat Administrative Service (Class 1), Gujarat Civil Service (Class 2), and posts like Municipal Chief Officer. Open to any Indian citizen, though reservation-category benefits require Gujarat domicile. Three stages: Prelims, Mains, Interview. The 2026 notification (Advt. 05/2026-27) covers 71 vacancies.

Exam pattern

Prelims covers General Studies; Mains has multiple descriptive papers including a Gujarati language paper.

Selection process

Prelims marks are for screening only and don't count toward the final rank - Mains + Interview marks decide the final merit list. The 2026 Mains schedule had not been announced as of this exam's last verification, only the Prelims (7 June 2026, already concluded).
